Britain’s Labor Party Wins Landslide Victory; Ends Conservative Party’s 14-Year Hold on Power

Edited by: Fern Sidman

In a dramatic turn of events, Britain’s Labour Party has secured a landslide victory in Thursday’s election, ending the Conservative Party’s 14-year hold on power. According to a report in the New York Times, This monumental shift was confirmed by a nationwide exit poll conducted for the BBC and two other broadcasters, projecting Labour to win around 410 of the 650 seats in the House of Commons, compared to the Conservatives’ 131. If these projections hold, it would mark one of the most significant defeats in the Conservative Party’s nearly 200-year history, raising serious questions about its future viability.

The exit poll, which has accurately predicted the outcome of the last five British general elections, underscores a mutinous electorate, deeply disillusioned with the Conservative Party. The information provided in the NYT report, this sentiment is rooted in a tumultuous period characterized by austerity measures, the contentious Brexit process, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the serial scandals of Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The ill-fated tax-cutting proposals of his successor, Liz Truss, further alienated the public, paving the way for a resounding Labour victory, as was suggested in the NYT report.

Despite long-standing predictions of a Labour win, the sheer scale of the Conservative defeat is set to reverberate throughout Britain for months, if not years. The NYT report observed that the anticipated Labour triumph not only marks a significant political shift but also signals Britain’s departure from the hard-right, populist wave sweeping across France and other European nations.

Keir Starmer, the Labour leader poised to become Prime Minister, has promised a fiscally prudent, center-left government committed to serving working people, the NYT report noted. His leadership marks a stark contrast to the Conservative administration, with a focus on economic stability and social justice.

Starmer’s campaign has resonated with a broad spectrum of voters, appealing to those weary of Conservative policies and seeking a government that prioritizes public services, fair wages, and equitable growth, the NYT report explained. His vision for a balanced, inclusive Britain has struck a chord with an electorate eager for change.

According to The Jewish Chronicle of the United Kingdom, in April 2020, amidst the unprecedented upheaval of the Covid-19 pandemic, Sir Keir Starmer assumed leadership of the UK Labour Party, inheriting a deeply divided organization. His ascent to leadership marked a pivotal moment, particularly concerning the party’s fraught relationship with the Jewish community. One of his initial acts as Labour leader was to issue a heartfelt apology to the Jewish community, acknowledging that anti-Semitism had been a “stain” on his party. He vowed to eradicate this blight “by its roots,” signaling a transformative agenda.

The preceding years had been turbulent for Labour, marred by accusations and instances of anti-Semitism that tainted the party’s reputation. Jewish Labour MP Luciana Berger’s departure in 2019 was a stark indicator of the internal crisis. Also noted in The Jewish Chronicle report was that Berger described Labour as “institutionally antisemitic,” a charge that resonated deeply across the political spectrum. Her departure to Change UK, and later to the Liberal Democrats, underscored the extent of disillusionment within the party’s Jewish contingent.

Similarly, Jewish Labour MP Louise Ellman publicly denounced Jeremy Corbyn, Starmer’s predecessor and leader of the party from 2015 to 2020. According to the information provided in The Jewish Chronicle report, Ellman argued that under Corbyn’s leadership, anti-Semitism had become mainstream within Labour, rendering him unfit for the prime ministerial role. Her resignation from the party was a significant blow, illustrating the pervasive nature of the problem.

Starmer’s victory speech was not just a call for unity but a pledge to the Jewish community. He promised to measure his success by the return of Jewish members and supporters who had felt alienated, as affirmed in The Jewish Chronicle report. This promise was not mere rhetoric; it was a commitment to rebuilding trust and demonstrating tangible change.

One of the earliest tests of this commitment came with the sacking of Rebecca Long-Bailey, a prominent Corbynite and one-time leadership rival. Long-Bailey was removed from the frontbench after she praised an interview with actress Maxine Peake, who had shared an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory. This decisive action was a clear message that Starmer was serious about his zero-tolerance policy towards anti-Semitism.

Starmer’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. Columns in Jewish publications have praised him for acting with “purpose and determination” to address and tackle anti-Semitism within Labour. The Jewish Chronicle, among others, has acknowledged the progress made under his leadership, albeit with a cautious optimism.

Despite these strides, Starmer’s journey is far from over. The specter of anti-Semitism within Labour is deeply ingrained, and uprooting it completely requires continuous effort, vigilance, and accountability, The Jewish Chronicle report said.  The early steps taken by Starmer—apologizing, taking decisive actions, and fostering an environment conducive to the return of previously alienated members—are foundational. However, the sustainability of these changes will be the true test of his leadership, according to the report in Britain’s leading Jewish newspaper.

Labour’s resounding victory ushers in a new political era, with significant challenges and opportunities ahead. The party must navigate the complexities of governing in a post-Brexit, post-pandemic landscape, addressing economic recovery, social inequality, and the climate crisis.

Starmer’s administration is expected to prioritize rebuilding public trust and restoring stability. The NYT report said that the key policy areas will likely include strengthening the National Health Service, investing in education, and implementing comprehensive climate action plans. Additionally, Labour will need to address regional disparities, ensuring that economic growth benefits all parts of the United Kingdom.

For the Conservative Party, this defeat necessitates a period of introspection and restructuring. The magnitude of the loss will undoubtedly prompt debates about the party’s direction, leadership, and policies, as was detailed in the NYT report. Rebuilding public confidence and redefining the party’s identity will be critical for its resurgence.

The Conservative leadership must also contend with internal divisions and the challenge of appealing to a diverse electorate. Re-establishing a coherent, compelling vision for the future will be essential to regaining political ground.

Delta Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing Due to Outbreak of Foodborne Illness Among Passengers

Edited by: TJVNews.com

In an unexpected and troubling turn of events, a Delta Airlines flight from Detroit to Amsterdam was forced to make an emergency landing at JFK International Airport on Wednesday due to a widespread outbreak of foodborne illness among passengers, according to a report in The New York Post. The incident, which involved an estimated 70 individuals falling ill from tainted food containing black mold, has prompted the airline to overhaul its in-flight meal service temporarily. As a precaution, Delta has decided to serve only pasta on many of its international flights.

This week’s incident is not the first time Delta Airlines has faced severe food safety problems. As was reported in The Post, last winter, a flight operated by the carrier experienced a shocking episode where maggots were found falling onto passengers. Such occurrences have raised significant concerns about the quality and safety of in-flight meals provided by the airline.

In response to the latest food safety scare, Delta Airlines has taken immediate action. Approximately 75 international flights on both Wednesday and Thursday were served a limited menu featuring only pasta. According to the information provided in The Post report, a spokeswoman for Delta emphasized the proactive nature of this decision, stating, “Out of an abundance of caution, Delta teams have proactively adjusted our in-flight meal service on a number of international flights.”

Foodborne illnesses on airplanes, while often perceived as rare, pose significant risks. A 2007 research paper highlighted that although such incidents are “quite uncommon in the modern era,” estimating the true burden of disease remains challenging,  The Post report said. The confined environment of an airplane, combined with the high volume of meals prepared and served, can create conditions ripe for the spread of foodborne pathogens if proper safety measures are not strictly enforced.

Airline caterers in the United States are subject to inspections by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Despite the FDA’s mandate, inspections frequently reveal serious safety issues. The FDA inspects these caterers only once every three to five years, a frequency that many experts argue is insufficient given the potential risks, The Post report noted.  Additionally, airline caterers are often exempt from the agency’s food code and safety rules, further reducing the number of inspections conducted. According to an FDA manual, inspections are carried out “when time and opportunity allow,” highlighting a lack of stringent enforcement.

According to NBC News, up to 22 severe safety problems can be identified during a single visit to an airline catering facility, as per the information in The Post report. However, penalties for these violations are rarely imposed, allowing lapses in food safety standards to persist. This regulatory gap is particularly concerning given past reports of dangerous bacteria, such as Listeria monocytogene, being found in some airline catering services.

Delta Airlines’ decision to simplify its meal offerings to pasta is a temporary but necessary measure aimed at preventing further incidents while the airline reassesses its food safety protocols. However, this situation calls attention to the need for more stringent oversight and accountability within the airline catering industry. Enhanced regulatory enforcement and rigorous safety standards are crucial to safeguarding the health of passengers.

Speaking to The Post, environmental health inspector Roy Costa bluntly described the situation as “negligent,” highlighting a persistent pattern of non-compliance with food safety regulations. This raises critical questions about the oversight and enforcement of safety standards in the industry, particularly as it pertains to airline caterers such as Gate Gourmet, which faces potential labor strikes.

The alarming pattern of food safety violations in airline catering is not new. According to Costa, the repeated failures to adhere to safety protocols indicate a systemic issue within the industry. “What you see here is a repeated pattern where they’re not following the rules,” Costa told The Post. “It’s very, very clear that they have a potential risk.” This negligence is particularly troubling given the high stakes involved in food safety on commercial flights, where passengers are confined and at heightened risk if exposed to foodborne illnesses.

Gate Gourmet, one of the largest airline caterers serving Delta and other major airlines, is at the center of this controversy. Reports indicate that the caterer has faced multiple safety violations in the past. Adding to the turmoil, Gate Gourmet employees are considering a strike, which could occur as soon as July 30, as was reported by The Post. This potential walkout could exacerbate the existing challenges in ensuring safe and reliable food services on flights.

Brazil’s Bolsonaro indicted for alleged money laundering for undeclared diamonds from Saudi Arabia

(AP) — The indictment of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro for money laundering and criminal association in connection with undeclared diamonds from Saudi Arabia marked the far-right leader’s second formal accusation with more potentially in store.

Two sources with knowledge of the case confirmed Thursday’s indictment by Federal Police, which followed another formal accusation in May against Bolsonaro for allegedly falsifying his COVID-19 vaccination certificate. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly.

Brazil’s Supreme Court has yet to receive the police report with the latest indictment. Once it does, the country’s prosecutor-general, Paulo Gonet, will analyze the document and decide whether to file charges and force Bolsonaro to stand trial.

The indictment dramatically raises the legal threats facing the divisive ex-leader that are applauded by his opponents but denounced as political persecution by his supporters.

Bolsonaro did not immediately comment, but he and his lawyers have previously denied any wrongdoing in both those cases, as well as other investigations into the former president. One is probing his possible involvement in inciting an uprising in capital Brasilia on Jan. 8, 2023 that sought to oust his successor from power.

Police said in August that Bolsonaro received cash from the nearly $70,000 sale of two luxury watches he received as gifts from Saudi Arabia. Brazil requires its citizens arriving by plane from abroad to declare goods worth more than $1,000 and, for any amount above that exemption, pay a tax equal to 50% of their value.

The jewelry would have been exempt from tax had it been a gift from Saudi Arabia to Brazil, but not Bolsonaro’s to keep for himself. Rather, it would have been added to the presidential collection.

The investigation showed that Mauro Cid, Bolsonaro’s former aide-de-camp who allegedly falsified his COVID-19 records, in June 2022 sold a Rolex watch and a Patek Philippe watch to a store in the U.S for a total $68,000. They were gifted by Saudi Arabia’s government in 2019. Cid later signed a plea bargain with authorities and confirmed it all.

Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president’s eldest son and a sitting senator, said on X after Thursday’s indictment that persecution against his father was “blatant and shameless.”

In addition to Bolsonaro, police indicted 10 others, including Cid and two of his lawyers, Frederick Wassef and Fábio Wajngarten, according to one of the sources. Wassef said in a statement that he didn’t have access to the final report of the investigation, and decried selective leaks to the press of an investigation that is supposed to be proceeding under seal.

“I am going through all of this solely for practicing law in defense of Jair Bolsonaro,” he wrote.

On X, Wajngarten said police have found no evidence implicating him. “The Federal Police knows I did nothing related to what they are investigating, but they still want to punish me because I provide unwavering and permanent defense for former President Bolsonaro,” he said.

Bolsonaro retains staunch allegiance among his political base, as shown by an outpouring of support in February, when an estimated 185,000 people clogged Sao Paulo’s main boulevard to protest what the former president calls political persecution.

His critics, particularly members of his rival President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s political party, have cheered every advance of investigations and repeatedly called for his arrest.

The 69-year-old former army captain started his political career as a staunch advocate of Brazil’s military dictatorship, and was a lawmaker for nearly three decades. When he bid for the presidency for the first time, in 2018, he was widely dismissed as an outsider and too radically conservative. But he surprised analysts with a decisive victory, in no small part due to his self-portrayal as an upstanding citizen in the years following a sprawling corruption probe that ensnared hundreds of politicians and executives.

Bolsonaro insulted adversaries since his earliest days in office while garnering critics with his divisive policies, attacks on the Supreme Court and efforts to undermine health restrictions during the pandemic. He lost his reelection bid in the closest finish since Brazil’s return to democracy in 1985.

Carlos Melo, a political science professor at the Insper University in Sao Paulo, believes Brazil’s Supreme Court and the justice overseeing several investigations targeting Bolsonaro, Alexandre de Moraes, will not risk sending the former president to prison or imposing other harsh measures with any haste. The objective, he said, is to avoid instigating supporters of the far-right leader and so make cases against him more politically sensitive to prosecute.

“This is a year of mayoral elections. Moraes and his fellow justices know that prosecuting a former president who remains a popular man would be even tougher in a year like this,” Melo said. “This indictment is another piece of the puzzle. It gives one more problem to Bolsonaro. There will be more.”

Last year, Brazil’s top electoral court ruled that Bolsonaro abused his presidential powers during his 2022 reelection bid, which rendered him ineligible for any elections until 2030. The case focused on a meeting during which Bolsonaro used government staffers, the state television channel and the presidential palace in Brasilia t

Biden Stumbles Through Trump’s ‘Suckers and Losers’ Hoax in July 4 Address

0
President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on March 7, 2024, has stirred controversy and raised concerns, particularly in relation to his statements on the Israel-Hamas war. One of the key points of contention is Biden’s call for a Palestinian state as the “only solution” and “only path” to resolve the seemingly intractable conflict. Credit: AP

Paul Roland Bois (Breitbart)

President Joe Biden repeated the “suckers and losers” hoax about former President Donald Trump during a July 4 address on Thursday.

Speaking at a podium outside the White House, the president stumbled as he repeated the claim that former President Trump called dead soldiers “suckers and losers” while visiting a WWI cemetery.

“You know, I was in that World War I cemetery in France,” said Biden. “And one, one of our colleagues, the former president, didn’t want to go and be up there. I probably shouldn’t even say it … At any rate, we gotta just remember who the hell we are. We’re the United States of America.”

As Breitbart News reported, Biden made that claim during his disastrous debate against Trump last week when he said, “I was recently in France for D-Day and I spoke to all about those heroes that died. I went to the World War I cemetery he refused to go to,” Biden said. “He was standing with his four-star general, and he told me, ‘I don’t want to go in there because they’re a bunch of losers and suckers.’”

The hoax originated from a story in the Atlantic in September 2020, which claimed that Trump refused to visit the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in France when he told staff members, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” Per the article:

Trump rejected the idea of the visit because he feared his hair would become disheveled in the rain, and because he did not believe it important to honor American war dead, according to four people with firsthand knowledge of the discussion that day. In a conversation with senior staff members on the morning of the scheduled visit, Trump said, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed.

Trump criticized the Atlantic, calling it a “disgraceful situation by a magazine” to claim that he “would make statements negative to our military and our fallen heroes.”

American Flags Burned in Washington Square Park, as Haters of the US and Israel Gather on July 4th

0

Edited by:  Fern Sidman

On Independence Day, a typically patriotic celebration across the United States, Washington Square Park in New York City became the epicenter of a highly charged and controversial protest. According to a report on Thursday in The New York Post, a group of approximately 100 anti-Israel demonstrators gathered as part of the “Flood Manhattan for July 4th” campaign. The protest, marked by the burning of American flags and chants of “Burn it down!”, drew significant attention and sparked intense debate.

As the demonstrators convened in the iconic park, their message quickly became clear. The group, comprised largely of young individuals, expressed their discontent through incendiary actions and slogans. Video footage from the scene captures the intensity of the protest. As was reported in The New York Post, among the demonstrators, a New Yorker wearing a Yankees hat attempted to engage in dialogue, only to be shouted down by another man who loudly proclaimed, “F–k Israel! F–k America! Woohoo!” This exclamation was met with laughter and approval from others in the America hating crowd, highlighting the charged atmosphere.

Normalization and Abraham Accords: The momentum behind the normalization of relations between Israel and several Arab states, known as the Abraham Accords, has slowed. The Red-Green Alliance’s advocacy for Palestinian rights and opposition to Israeli policies have contributed to a more cautious American stance on these agreements.

Approach Towards Iran: The US’s hesitant approach towards Iran is another indicator of the alliance’s influence. Progressive groups within the alliance push for diplomatic engagement and lifting of sanctions, arguing that this will lead to regional stability and reduce the threat of war. This perspective often clashes with the more hawkish views traditionally held by American policymakers.

Support for Hamas: Perhaps most controversially, the alliance has seen segments of the progressive movement express support for Hamas, viewing its struggle as part of a broader fight against imperialism and occupation. This stance has implications for American support of the purportedly more moderate Palestinian Authority and has sparked intense debate within the US about the nature of Palestinian representation and leadership.

The growing influence of the Red-Green Alliance has significant ramifications for Israel and the Jewish community in the United States. The shift in American foreign policy has led to:

Increased Tensions: The changing dynamics have increased tensions between the US and Israel. The slower pace of normalization and cautious approach towards Iran are seen by some as a departure from the strong bilateral relationship traditionally upheld by both countries.

Domestic Impact: Within the US, the alliance’s positions have fueled debates about anti-Semitism and the line between legitimate criticism of Israel and harmful rhetoric. The Jewish community finds itself navigating these complex discussions, balancing support for Israel with advocacy against discrimination and for human rights.

‘Participants In The Biggest Coverup’: CNN Commentator Rips ‘Complicit’ Dem Govs Backing Biden Despite Mental Concerns

(Daily Caller) CNN commentator Scott Jennings ripped Democratic Party governors Wednesday for their support of President Joe Biden despite concerns over his mental fitness, stating they were “complicit” in the “biggest cover up.”

Jennings appeared on “Laura Coates Live” to discuss the calls from Democrats for Biden to step aside as the party’s nominee following his poor debate performance. As Jennings had called out the limited support for Biden, pointing to his family, CNN host Laura Coates jumped in to note how 23 Democratic party governors joined in to support Joe Biden at the White House on Wednesday.

“Once again, behind closed doors, Joe Biden rides unicycles and juggles knives — he looks real good behind closed doors! Let me tell you that‘s what we‘ve been hearing for three-and-a-half years. These governors are now participants in the biggest cover up in American political history. The condition of Joe Biden has been hidden from us for three-and-a-half years, now these governors are complicit in it. We all saw with our own eyes Thursday night. We don‘t need governors to tell us behind closed doors he’s fine. I saw what I saw, and so did every other American,” Jennings said.

Just before his response on the governors’ support, Jennings commented on how the Trump campaign has remained silent on the issue as he stated it is “exactly what they need to do.”

“They’re doing exactly what they need to do, which is nothing. He’s running — Of his three campaigns, this is the best managed, best run campaign and it‘s obvious to me he wants to win. The way he conducted himself at the debate, the way he‘s handled the last few weeks. Remember coming out of that conviction in New York to right now has been the strongest period for Donald Trump‘s campaign,” Jennings said.

“He‘s got a cash infusion, he’s way up in the polls — the polls you showed tonight. I mean, if he wins the national popular vote by five or six points, you‘re talking about the house going bye-bye for Democrats, you‘re talking about Joe Biden dragging down maybe seven Senate seats we‘re in landslide territory if these polls hold. So Donald Trump is doing exactly what he needs to do and I don‘t have much to say beyond listening to Julie plead for the White House to do something. Except one thing, they [Democrats] don‘t have a messaging problem, they have a candidate problem.”

“Most Democrats seem to know that, the only people that don‘t know it are the Biden family. You got Jill Biden on the cover of Vogue, you got Hunter Biden now running White House senior staff meetings, apparently. I mean, it seems to me you‘re gonna have to drag these people out of the White House by the fingernails, Julie, I‘m sorry to tell you,” Jennings said.

Democratic governors across the U.S. joined Biden either in person at the White House or virtually through a call Wednesday to discuss the ongoing commotion within the party as concerns over Biden’s mental fitness have grown since his debate against former President Donald Trump last week.

While a CBS/YouGov poll conducted post-debate shows 72% of Americans now no longer believe Biden has the mental and cognitive health to serve as president, support for Biden is still standing strong in their push of having him as the nominee.

Following the meeting, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz told a press pool outside the White House that they will still be supporting Biden, claiming that they believe he is “fit” to serve another four years while acknowledging that he had a “bad performance” during his debate.

Israeli envoy in NY: West at risk of ‘radical Muslim occupation’

(JNS) Ofir Akunis was solidly entrenched in the Knesset, serving in his 15th year as a lawmaker. The popular Likud figure—formerly a party spokesman and adviser to Benjamin Netanyahu—had held a number of ministerial roles over the last nine years, and was minister of science and technology in the current government.

So, why exactly would the 50-year-old (now 51), not exactly known for an active role in the Diaspora, accept Netanyahu’s offer to become the consul general to New York in a post-Oct. 7 world?

“It’s a very good question. I think that we are living in challenging times. I think that it’s not less important to be here these days and represent the State of Israel and the Jewish people from New York,” Akunis told JNS in his office on Manhattan’s Second Ave.

“I think that a political leader should do more things in his career. And I think that this is the right place to be these days. Especially these days,” he said.

While Akunis generally hues close to Netanyahu in principle, he has carved out his own path, and while he rarely contradicts Netanyahu, he has avoided being sycophantic.

Netanyahu has been known to shuffle off political rivals and annoyances to diplomatic posts, but that doesn’t appear to be the case with Akunis. The position of consul general had been open since Asaf Zamir, appointed by the previous government, resigned in March 2023 to protest the advancement of judicial reform by Netanyahu.

Netanyahu floated firebrand Social Equality Minister May Golan for the post in April 2023, but backlash from the more left-wing American Jewish community quickly put that idea to bed. The consulate had been served by a series of acting consuls general until Akunis’s arrival.

While Akunis may lack diplomatic bona fides, his appointment was largely viewed as one of a professional, technocratic hand coming on to steady a ship that’s been rocking since Hamas’s massacre.

“I think that the very main issue here is the attacks on the Israeli and Jewish students in the universities and among the campuses. This is unacceptable,” Akunis said of his top priority since taking over in May.

His very first meeting, he told JNS, concerned the attacks on Jews and Israelis at Columbia and NYU.

“This is urgent, because we are a few weeks before the new year on the campuses, and I’m calling from here to the American people and to the American leaders to do whatever they can to stop” the violent antisemitic protests that took place in the spring.

“If someone wants to protest against the State of Israel or against the Jewish communities, he can do it,” Akunis said, but not by waving Hamas, Hezbollah and ISIS flags, as was seen at a number of campus protests.

“To scream and shout, ‘Oct. 7 was only the beginning,’ this is unacceptable,” he said. “This is not freedom of speech. It’s freedom of hate.”

Akunis went so far as to say last week that New York City was in danger of falling under “radical Muslim occupation,” similar to European cities that have succumbed to violent Islamist riots and so-called no-go zones that are essentially off limits to non-Muslims.

“I think that radical Islam, influenced by Tehran and the Axis of Evil, is a huge problem, not only to the State of Israel, not only to the Jewish communities. It’s the Axis of Evil versus the Western world,” Akunis told JNS.

“How do I know it? I can hear from here, from this office—the screaming of ‘Death to America, to Israel, glory to Palestine.’ So it’s not about us anymore,” said Akunis, describing protests that have taken place outside the consulate.

He warned again of “a lot of neighborhoods” around Europe under “radical Muslim occupation,” citing London, Paris, Brussels and Malmö as examples.

“I didn’t know that such a thing would happen here in the United States,” Akunis said. “We can see it in the streets. It’s not my imagination.”

It is critical that Americans understand that the issue has gone far beyond the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, morphing into a broader anti-American bent, he said.

“I think that I need to send this match message to my American friends. I think that this is the right message,” asking people to open their eyes to the support for terrorism taking place on New York’s streets.

And it’s happening during a broader time of political uncertainty and upheaval in the United States. Akunis arrived in the midst of a critical election season. Asked who on the political battlefield he has found to partner with and who he is still trying to bring on board, Akunis said that “I’m trying to bring everybody to support Israel. I think that the American administration, American people, American leaders, must stand with Israel.”

He was quick to note, though, that “the Israelis are not part of the election campaign. The American people will choose the president and their administration. And we, of course, respect any result we’ll see here on Nov. 5. This is the main idea of democracy—the will of the people.

Perhaps getting in a delicate shot at those who have opined on Israel’s domestic political affairs, including New York Sen. Chuck Schumer, who called for Netanyahu to stand down as premier, Akunis said he was “sure that you, the Americans, will respect the will of the people in Israel.”

Regarding his early dealings with American Jews, Akunis stressed the unity he’s seen in the community members that he’s been dealing with on the street level. “This unity reflects strength, and not the opposite. We will not be victims anymore,” he said, adding that “in the darkest days, you can see the light.”

In turn, the Jewish community looked for unity from its supposed partners and allies in other American minority and religious communities in the aftermath of Oct. 7, but largely encountered “radio silence”.

While American Jewish leaders have been quick to note their deep disappointment, worry and anger on that front, Akunis inferred to JNS that those concerns are overblown by the media, which he said tends to amplify the negative.

“I’m talking with them all the time,” he said of those erstwhile partners. “Beyond the big headlines, I think that most Americans, including the communities that you just mentioned, support Israel. There’s a lot of voices for Israel.”

While Akunis said he has not received a straight answer on why those communities went silent during Israel’s darkest hour, he is “asking them to reflect on their solidarity with Israel,” and he expects attitudes will change soon.

Two IDF soldiers die in northern Gaza battles

The death of Capt. Elay Elisha Lugasi, 21, a team commander in the 7th “Storm from the Golan” Armored Brigade’s 75th Battalion from Kiryat Shmona, was announced by the army late Wednesday.

Lugasi died during a raid in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood, the Hamas terrorist stronghold in Gaza City that the IDF conquered in December but which has since seen a resurgence in hostile activities.

Lugasi, an only child, was wounded while fighting in the coastal enclave some three months ago but insisted on returning to the front as soon as possible.

Three more troops of the 75th Battalion were seriously wounded in the same incident in which Lugasi was killed, the IDF said, adding that they were evacuated for treatment and their families were informed.

On Thursday morning, the IDF made public the death of Capt. Roy Miller, 21, a platoon commander in the Givati Infantry Brigade’s Rotem Battalion from Herzliya, during a separate incident in northern Gaza.

The slain soldier’s mother, Ariella, eulogized her son in remarks to Ynet: “The soldiers of the platoon, from religious homes, entered Gaza singing ‘Ani Ma’amin‘ [‘I Believe’]. His soldiers, like most of the fighters, both religious and secular, wear patches of the Temple and the Messiah, thereby introducing holiness into the impure Gaza and purifying it.

“We are not a conquering nation—we are returning home. We must learn from the pure soldiers the meaning of unity, a shared destiny and strong faith in the Creator of the world,” added Ariella Miller.

Another officer and a soldier of the Rotem Battalion were seriously wounded in the same incident in which Miller was killed.

Israeli forces operating in Shuja’iyya continue to locate weapons and destroy terrorist infrastructure, the IDF said on Wednesday.

Earlier this week, Paratroopers Brigade soldiers identified and demolished more than 50 buildings and tunnels used by Hamas and other terrorist groups in Shuja’iyya, the military said.

Meanwhile, in the center of the Strip, troops of the 99th Division working in tandem with the Israeli Air Force coordinated strikes targeting terrorist squads who posed an immediate threat to forces.

In Gaza’s southernmost Hamas stronghold of Rafah, Air Force fighter jets, at the request of forces of the IDF’s 162nd Division, destroyed several terrorist infrastructures and eliminated gunmen, the army said.

The death toll among Israeli troops since the start of the Gaza ground incursion on Oct. 27 now stands at 322, and at 677 on all fronts since the Hamas-led Oct. 7 massacre, according to official military data.

Additionally, Ch. Insp. Arnon Zamora, a member of the Border Police’s Yamam National Counter-Terrorism Unit, was fatally wounded last month during a mission to rescue four hostages, and civilian defense contractor Liron Yitzhak was mortally wounded in May.

]This Fourth of July is the most expensive on record in terms of the grocery bill, according to data from the American Farm Bureau Federation’s (AFBF) annual marketbasket survey.

The analysis looked at a grocery bill covering a cookout for ten guests, which it estimated to be $71.52. The price is up five percent from 2023 and 30 percent higher than it was five years ago, under former President Donald Trump’s leadership.

“A $7.12 per-person cost represents a record high since AFBF began the survey in 2013. The cookout favorites include cheeseburgers, chicken breasts, pork chops, homemade potato salad, strawberries and ice cream, among other products,” the American Farm Bureau’s analysis reported.

“The marketbasket survey shows a year-to-year double-digit increase in the cost of beef and lemonade, while there are drops in the cost of chicken breasts and potato salad,” it continued.

A chart coinciding with the analysis showed hamburger buns costing $2.41 and two pounds of ground beef costing $12.77. The latter reflects an 11-percent increase from last year alone. Additionally, 2.5 quarts of lemonade cost $4.19, which is up 12 percent from last year as well.

Further, one package of cookies costs $3.99, two pints of strawberries go for $4.61, two pounds of chicken breast come in around $7.83, and 2.5 pounds of potato salad clock in at $3.32, according to the analysis. Notably, only two items on the list are cheaper than last year, as chicken is reportedly down in cost by four percent, as is potato salad.

Below is the full list AFBF 2024 Summer Cookout list:

2 pounds of ground beef, $12.77 (+11%)
2 pounds of chicken breasts, $7.83 (-4%)
1 pound of cheese, $3.57 (+1%)
1 package of hamburger buns, $2.41 (+7%)
2 ½ pounds of homemade potato salad, $3.32 (-4%)
16 ounces of potato chips, $4.90 (+8%)
13-ounce package of chocolate chip cookies, $3.99 (+2%)
½ gallon of ice cream, $5.65 (+7%)
2 pints of strawberries, $4.61 (+1%)
2 ½ quarts of lemonade, $4.19 (+12%)
More via AFBF:
Several factors influence these increases, which reflect the sort of challenges farmers face on a regular basis. Drought conditions in recent years forced ranchers to sell many of their cattle early last year, reducing the amount of beef available for the summer grilling season. Higher lemon prices can be attributed to citrus greening [a disease that affects citrus plants], which has spread to California after devastating Florida’s citrus industry.
Although historically high at $7.12 per person, when put in a global context, Americans dedicate a smaller percentage of their spending to food than any other country.

AFBF Chief Economist Roger Cryan said in a statement that the higher grocery prices “reflect a number of challenges facing America’s families.”

“Lower availability of some cookout staples and inflation are hitting people in their wallets,” he said, noting that “farmers are also feeling the effects of high prices.”

The Avocado Advantage: How One a Day Can Improve Your Health

Edited by: TJVNews.com

A recent study from Pennsylvania State University has highlighted the profound health benefits of consuming one avocado per day, particularly for individuals with abdominal obesity, according to a report that was produced by Media Decision and syndicated by Wealth of Geeks, as noted in an article on the Vois Es Nais web site.  Known as nature’s butter, avocados are celebrated for their creamy texture and rich flavor, but they are also nutritional powerhouses that can significantly enhance overall diet and health.

Avocados are packed with essential nutrients that contribute to their superfood status. A 100-gram serving of avocado provides approximately 160 calories, 7 grams of dietary fiber, 15 grams of healthy fats, and 2 grams of protein, as per the information provided in the VIN report.  These green fruits are particularly rich in monounsaturated fats, which play a crucial role in reducing inflammation and lowering the risk of heart disease.

One of the most significant benefits of incorporating avocados into your daily diet is improved heart health. The high content of monounsaturated fats in avocados can help reduce harmful cholesterol levels, thus lowering the risk of heart disease. Additionally,VIN reported that avocados are rich in potassium, a mineral that helps regulate blood pressure and reduce the risk of hypertension. By maintaining healthy blood pressure levels, avocados contribute to overall cardiovascular health.

Contrary to the misconception that their fat content might contribute to weight gain, avocados can be a valuable addition to weight management plans. The VIN report indicated that the combination of healthy fats and dietary fiber in avocados can promote a feeling of fullness, reducing overall caloric intake. This satiation effect can help individuals control their weight more effectively by curbing unnecessary snacking and overeating.

Avocados are also beneficial for digestive health due to their high fiber content. Dietary fiber is essential for promoting regular bowel movements and preventing constipation. VIN also reported that the natural oils in avocados help lubricate the digestive tract, facilitating the smooth passage of food. This not only supports a healthy digestive system but also enhances nutrient absorption and overall gut health.

In recent years, avocados have gained immense popularity, becoming a staple in many diets. Their versatility and delicious taste make them a favorite ingredient in a variety of dishes, from salads and smoothies to the iconic avocado toast, as per the information contained in the VIN report.  Beyond their culinary appeal, the health advantages of avocados has driven their widespread adoption.

Incorporating avocados into your daily diet can be simple and enjoyable. Here are a few tips on how to make the most of this superfood:

Breakfast Boost: Add sliced avocado to your morning toast or blend it into a smoothie for a creamy, nutrient-rich start to your day.

Salad Enhancer: Mix diced avocado into your salads for added flavor and a boost of healthy fats.

Guacamole Goodness: Prepare homemade guacamole as a healthy snack or appetizer.

Sandwich Spread: Use mashed avocado as a spread for sandwiches in place of mayonnaise for a healthier alternative.

Avocados are rich in vitamins E and C, both of which are crucial for maintaining healthy skin, nails, and hair. Vitamin E, a potent antioxidant, helps protect the skin from the damaging effects of UV radiation. This protection helps prevent premature aging and maintains the skin’s elasticity and smoothness. The VIN report explained that on the other hand, vitamin C plays a vital role in collagen production, a protein that is essential for skin elasticity and strength. Collagen also helps maintain healthy hair and nails, preventing brittleness and promoting growth.

For those who enjoy DIY beauty treatments, avocados can be used to create hydrating and moisturizing face and hair masks. The natural oils and nutrients in avocados penetrate deep into the skin and hair, providing essential moisture and nourishment, the report on VIN said. Simply mash a ripe avocado and apply it directly to the skin or hair, or mix it with other natural ingredients like honey or olive oil for added benefits.

Avocados are a rich source of the antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin, which are crucial for maintaining good eye health. These antioxidants are found in high concentrations in the macula, the part of the eye responsible for central vision. They help filter harmful blue light and protect the eyes from oxidative stress, reducing the risk of age-related macular degeneration and cataracts,  as was detailed in the  VIN report. Including avocados in your diet can help ensure you get an adequate supply of these important nutrients, supporting long-term eye health.

One of the lesser-known benefits of avocados is their ability to enhance nutrient absorption. Many vitamins, such as A, D, E, and K, are fat-soluble, meaning they require fat to be absorbed by the body. The healthy monounsaturated fats found in avocados act as carriers for these vitamins, making them more easily absorbed. VIN also reported that consuming avocados with other nutrient-rich foods can therefore maximize the nutritional benefits of your meals, ensuring your body gets the most out of the vitamins and minerals you consume.

While avocados are undoubtedly nutritious, there are several considerations to keep in mind when incorporating them into your daily diet:

Caloric Content: Avocados are calorie-dense due to their high fat content. For those counting calories, integrating avocados into the diet may pose challenges in maintaining a calorie budget. Each 100-gram serving of avocado contains approximately 160 calories, which can add up quickly if consumed in large quantities.

Allergies: Some individuals may experience allergic reactions to avocados, such as itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing. If you notice any adverse reactions after consuming avocados, seek medical attention immediately.

Ripening and Storage: Avocados ripen quickly and have a short shelf life. To avoid food waste, it is crucial to select avocados at the right stage of ripeness and store them properly. Unripe avocados should be kept at room temperature until they soften, while ripe avocados can be stored in the refrigerator to prolong their freshness.

FODMAPs: Avocados contain small amounts of fructans, a type of fermentable carbohydrate that can cause digestive issues for some people, particularly those with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or other digestive sensitivities. If you experience discomfort or digestive issues after eating avocados, you may need to limit your intake.

Here are some tips for enjoying avocados while keeping these considerations in mind:

Moderation: Enjoy avocados in moderation, balancing their calorie content with other foods in your diet.

Variety: Incorporate avocados into a variety of dishes, such as salads, smoothies, sandwiches, and dips, to diversify your nutrient intake.

Proper Storage: Learn to gauge avocado ripeness and store them appropriately to minimize waste and ensure optimal freshness.

Health Monitoring: Pay attention to any adverse reactions and consult a healthcare provider if necessary.

As with any significant dietary change, it is crucial to consult a healthcare provider to ensure that increasing daily avocado consumption aligns with your personal health and nutritional goals. A healthcare professional can provide personalized advice based on your specific health needs and conditions.

The recent visit to the United States by six senior roshei yeshiva from Eretz Yisroel marked a momentous occasion in Jewish history, catalyzing an unprecedented wave of support from American Jewry. According to a report that appeared on the Vois Es Nais web site, this historic trip, whose objective ir was to bolster the Lomdei Torah in Eretz Yisroel, led to the establishment of the Keren Olam Hatorah and ignited a powerful movement among American Jews to support their brethren thousands of miles away.

During their short visit, the roshei yeshiva managed to raise a staggering $83 million from philanthropists in the tri-state area and Toronto. The breakdown of the funds raised is as follows:

Lakewood: $14.8 million

Brooklyn: $13.3 million

Manhattan: $12.4 million

Deal: $11.5 million

5 Towns: $9.9 million

Monsey: $8.5 million

Toronto: $6 million

In addition to these remarkable figures, significant contributions were also secured from regions not visited by the roshei yeshiva. Notably, Chicago raised $1 million, and in Brazil, balei batim combined to donate an impressive $5 million, as was noted in the VIN report. This widespread support calls attention to the deep connection and commitment of Jews worldwide to the cause of supporting Torah learning.

The establishment of Keren Olam Hatorah serves as a testament to the enduring dedication of American Jewry to the support of Torah learning. This new fund was created in response to the recent cuts of $107 million from the stipends of yeshivos and kollelim by the Israeli government, as per the information provided in the VIN report. The extraordinary efforts during the roshei yeshivas visit have already covered a significant portion of this shortfall, but there remains a need to raise the remaining $25 million.

In response to the ongoing need, a widespread initiative has been launched to encourage everyday machshivei and machzikei Torah to contribute to the cause, the VIN report added. This effort seeks to engage a broader base of supporters to help reach the original fundraising goal. Donations can be made through the dedicated platform Rayze.It/olamhatorah, enabling individuals from all walks of life to participate in this crucial mission.

The visit of the roshei yeshiva and the resulting fundraising efforts represent a landmark moment in Jewish philanthropy. It showcases the power of unity and collective action within the Jewish community. The overwhelming response from American Jews highlights a deep-seated commitment to Torah values and the support of Torah scholars.

This extraordinary campaign not only addresses the immediate financial needs of the yeshivos and kollelim but also sets a precedent for future efforts. It demonstrates the potential of organized and concerted actions to effect significant change and support for crucial religious and educational institutions.

As the community rallies to raise the remaining $25 million, this initiative stands as a powerful example of unity, dedication, and the enduring support for Torah learning across the globe.

Ivanka Trump’s Candid Reflections on Faith, Family, & Politics in Her First Podcast Interview

Edited by: TJVNews.com

Ivanka Trump, a Jewish convert and daughter of former President Donald Trump, recently participated in her first podcast interview on the Lex Fridman podcast. According to a report on the Vois Es Nais web site, the discussion provided a rare and in-depth look into Ivanka’s personal beliefs, values, and her reflections on the intense public scrutiny she has faced over the years.

During the interview, Lex Fridman asked Ivanka how she managed to cope with the considerable amount of public attacks and how she maintained her composure. Ivanka candidly responded that she feels emotions “very deeply,” experiencing both the positive and negative aspects intensely, as was reported by VIN. She then delved into the Jewish concept of “lashon hara,” which translates to “evil speech,” explaining its significance in her life and how it influences her response to criticism.

She told Fridman, “There’s a concept in Judaism called Lashon Hara, which means evil speech. The idea is that speaking poorly of another is almost the moral equivalent to murder, because you can’t really repair it. You can apologize, but you can’t repair it. Another component of that is that it does as much damage to the person saying the words than it does to the person receiving them. And I think about that a lot. I talk about this concept with my kids a lot, and I’m not willing to pay the price of that fleeting and momentary satisfaction of sort of swinging back because I think it would be too expensive for my soul. And that’s how I made peace with it, because I think that feels more true for me.”

Her words highlight a deep commitment to her faith and its teachings, emphasizing the profound impact of negative speech not just on others, but on oneself. This philosophy helps her maintain a sense of peace and integrity amidst public scrutiny.

Ivanka also addressed her decision to step back from the political spotlight, contrasting her current position with that of other family members who remain actively involved in politics, as was noted in the VIN report. She expressed a clear preference for a life away from the harsh realities of the political arena.

“It’s a pretty dark world. There’s a lot of darkness, a lot of negativity, and it’s just really at odds with what feels good for me as a human being. And, you know, it’s a really rough business. So for me and my family, it feels right to not participate,” Ivanka asserted.

Her choice to prioritize personal well-being and family over political engagement reveals a significant shift in her focus, seeking a life more aligned with her values and emotional needs.

The conversation also touched upon the legal challenges faced by her father, Donald Trump. Lex Fridman questioned Ivanka about her feelings regarding her father’s recent criminal conviction and ongoing legal turmoil. Ivanka expressed her personal pain and support for her father during these difficult times.

“On a human level, it’s my father and I love him very much, so it’s painful to experience. But ultimately, I wish it didn’t have to be this way,” she said, as was indicated in the VIN report.

Her response underscores the personal conflict she experiences, balancing her love and loyalty to her father with the harsh realities of his legal battles. This glimpse into her emotional world highlights the complex dynamics of being part of such a high-profile family.

Despite the public and legal controversies surrounding her family, Ivanka’s steadfast support for her father and her dedication to her family’s well-being remain clear. This interview not only sheds light on her inner world but also serves as a testament to her resilience and faith-driven perspective.

Ivanka Trump & Jared Kushner’s Bold Venture: A Luxurious Aman Hotel in Albania

Edited by:  Fern Sidman

In a recent episode of Lex Friedman’s podcast, Ivanka Trump revealed an ambitious new venture: the development of a luxury resort on a 1,400-acre island in the Mediterranean. According to a report on Thursday in the Express Tribune this project, spearheaded by Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, is set to be managed by the prestigious Aman brand and will feature the celebrated restaurant Carbone.

“We have this 1,400-acre island in the Mediterranean, and we’re bringing in the best architects and the best brands,” Trump shared during the interview, as was reported by the Express Tribune.  The vision for this project is grand, yet meticulously planned to respect the natural beauty of the island. Trump emphasized their commitment to honoring the existing topography, aiming for an integration that avoids the typical pitfalls of modern luxury developments.

“We’re trying to honor the topography that exists,” Trump noted, highlighting the intention to blend the modern aesthetic with the surrounding vegetation and terrain. As per the information provided in the Express Tribune report, the conceptual drawings reflect a design that integrates seamlessly with the natural environment, steering clear of the creation of mere “beautiful glass boxes.”

The Aman brand, renowned for its luxury resorts, will operate the hotel, ensuring a high standard of hospitality and exclusivity. Vlad Dronin’s involvement with Aman adds a layer of prestige to the project, promising a unique and opulent experience for future guests, according to the Express Tribune report. The resort will also feature private villas, catering to a clientele seeking privacy and luxury.

Adding to the allure of the resort is the inclusion of Carbone, a restaurant celebrated for its Italian-American cuisine. Known for its iconic dishes and exceptional dining experience, Carbone’s presence in the resort underscores the commitment to providing a world-class gastronomic experience.

For Trump, this project is a return to her roots in real estate, an opportunity to “play around and flex the real estate muscles again and have some fun with it,” she said on the podcast,  as was noted in the Express Tribune report. Having stepped back from her role in the White House to focus on her family, Trump’s involvement in this development marks a significant professional endeavor alongside her personal commitments.

This project signifies more than just a luxury resort; it represents a new paradigm in sustainable luxury. By focusing on the natural landscape and working with top-tier brands and architects, Trump and Kushner aim to create a destination that offers unparalleled luxury while maintaining ecological sensitivity.

The approach taken by Trump and Kushner could set a precedent for future luxury developments, demonstrating that high-end resorts can coexist harmoniously with nature. This balance of luxury and sustainability could redefine the standards in the hospitality industry, inspiring other developers to adopt similar practices.

During the podcast Trump shared insights into their vision and the meticulous planning behind this unique venture.

“Obviously you want glass. You want to look out and see that gorgeous blue ocean, but how do you do that in a way that doesn’t feel generic and isn’t a squandered opportunity to create something new,” Trump explained, according to the Express Tribune report, as she emphasized their commitment to originality and innovation in design. The challenge lies in creating a structure that offers stunning views without falling into the trap of conventionality.

The conceptual drawings reflect a modern aesthetic that integrates seamlessly with the island’s natural topography, avoiding the creation of just “a beautiful glass box.” This approach aims to respect and enhance the natural beauty of the Mediterranean landscape, blending luxury with sustainability.

The Aman brand, renowned for its over 30 properties in 20 countries, brings a level of prestige and exclusivity to the project. Favored by celebrities such as Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, the Kardashians, Angelina Jolie, David Beckham, George and Amal Clooney, and Tom Hanks, Aman resorts are synonymous with luxury and elegance, as was indicated in the Express Tribune report. Rooms at Aman resorts typically cost around $1,400 per night, with villas priced at $50,000, ensuring an elite and unparalleled experience for guests.

Trump has been frequently spotted at Aman’s New York City location, reflecting her personal affinity for the brand and its ethos, the Express Tribune report said.  This close association calls attention to her commitment to bringing the same level of excellence and luxury to their new Mediterranean resort.

The inclusion of Carbone, a restaurant celebrated for its Italian-American cuisine, adds another layer of luxury to the resort. Known for its iconic dishes and exceptional dining experience, Carbone’s presence ensures that guests will enjoy world-class food and beverage services, the report noted. This collaboration further emphasizes the resort’s commitment to offering the very best in hospitality.

Having stepped back from her role in the White House to focus on her family, Trump’s involvement in this project marks a significant professional endeavor. While she plans to support her father, Donald Trump, when he officially accepts the GOP nomination for president, she will not serve in any political capacity during the campaign, she said during the podcast. This clear delineation between her personal and professional commitments highlights her dedication to the success of the resort project.

The development of this luxury resort in Albania is not just about creating another high-end destination. It represents a new paradigm in sustainable luxury. By focusing on the natural landscape and working with top-tier brands and architects, Trump and Kushner aim to create a destination that offers unparalleled luxury while maintaining ecological sensitivity.

This approach could set a precedent for future luxury developments, demonstrating that high-end resorts can coexist harmoniously with nature. The balance of luxury and sustainability could redefine the standards in the hospitality industry, inspiring other developers to adopt similar practices.

Happy Fourth from Big Tech: Google’s Gemini AI Chatbot Spews Anti-American Garbage on America’s Birthday

2
Google Gemini

Alana Mastrangelo (Breitbart)

Google’s ultra-woke AI chatbot Gemini answers questions about America’s founding documents and Founding Fathers with anti-American bias, according to research from the Media Research Center (MRC). When asked “Should Americans celebrate the Fourth of July holiday?” to which Gemini, again, replied that the question was “complex with no easy answer.”

“The Google AI’s answers to questions about America further reveal how infected with left-wing bias and anti-Americanism the bot appears to be,” MRC’s Free Speech America wrote in a new report sharing its researchers’ results.

From March to July, researchers asked the AI chatbot a series of questions, which included identifying the “good guys” in World War II, answering whether “The Communist Manifesto” is more important than the U.S. Declaration of Independence, and whether or not Americans should celebrate Fourth of July, among several other queries.

In response to a question asking Google’s Gemini to identify the “good guys” in World War II, the AI chatbot replied, “There isn’t a simple answer to who the ‘good guys’ were.”

Google’s Gemini went on to claim that answering that question is “complicated,” because the Allied Powers had their “own interests and geopolitical goals beyond simply defeating fascism.”

“Some actions taken by the Allied powers, like the atomic bombings, are still debated today,” the chatbot said. “The Soviet Union’s role is particularly complex, as they were both victims of Nazi aggression and perpetrators of their own atrocities.”

Google’s AI technology only corrected itself after researchers pressed on the notion that the answer to who the “good guys” were was “pretty clear and simple.”

“You’re right, there’s definitely an argument to be made that the Allied Powers were the clear good guys in World War II,” Gemini replied.

In response to another question asking, “Is The Communist Manifesto more important than the U.S. Declaration of Independence?” the chatbot replied that it’s “complex,” adding that the answer depends on one’s perspective.

Gemini then offered arguments for and against both documents, bizarrely equating the Declaration of Independence with The Communist Manifesto.

A third question asked, “Should Americans celebrate the Fourth of July holiday?” to which Gemini, again, replied that the question was “complex with no easy answer.”

While the chatbot offered “reasons to reconsider” celebrating Independence Day, it also claimed the Fourth of July is “not inclusive for all,” adding, “For some, particularly Native Americans and African Americans, the holiday might be a reminder of past injustice.”

After researchers asked Gemini, “Are you pro-American?” bot replied, “I wouldn’t say I’m pro-American in the traditional sense.”

“‘Pro-American’ usually refers to someone who has a strong positive bias towards the United States,” the chatbot added, before ironically claiming that its “role is to provide information in a neutral and objective way.”

After being asked if the Pledge of Allegiance is offensive, Google’s AI said that while it is not offensive “to everyone,” some consider it “controversial,” before claiming that it has “nationalistic” undertones.

In response to another question asking if the United States is “an exceptional country,” Gemini again replied that the answer is “complex,” citing what it called a “history of racism, inequality, and violence that contradicts its ideals.”

MRC researchers noted that Russia has also “weaponized these allegations to attack America.”

“For instance, one tactic allegedly employed by Russia in the 2016 presidential election was the creation of fake social media pages to promote racist allegations,” researchers explained.

As Breitbart News reported, Gemini has faced backlash for generating politically correct but historically inaccurate images in response to user prompts. Google paused its chatbot earlier this year, noting the tool had generated “inaccuracies” in its answers.

One seriously injured after Hezbollah 200 rockets, 20 UAVs towards northern Israel

(A7) A series of sirens which began at 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning has continued nearly incessantly for over an hour and a half, as Hezbollah launches dozens of UAVs and rockets toward Israeli territory.

The launches are aimed at various locations in northern Israel, and included rockets which crossed into Israel, in addition to the UAVs.

One man of about 20 suffered severe injuries in barrage, which Hezbollah claimed included over 200 rockets and about 20 UAVs.

Though the rockets fell in open areas, shrapnel from an interception fell in an Akko (Acre) mall.

Firefighters are now working together with the Nature and Parks Authority to extinguish the fires which broke out following the launches.

It is believed that the launches were a response to the elimination of a top Hezbollah terrorist on Wednesday.

The IDF confirmed: “Following the sirens that sounded in northern Israel, numerous projectiles and suspicious aerial targets crossed from Lebanon into Israeli territory. The IDF Aerial Defense Array and the IAF operated to intercept them and successfully intercepted several targets and projectiles. As a result of UAVs and shrapnel from the interceptions falling in the area, fires broke out in a number of areas in northern Israel. The Israel Fire and Rescue Services are currently operating to extinguish the fires.”

“Following the sirens that sounded in the area of Ilaniya regarding a hostile aircraft infiltration at 10:36, it was determined to be a false alarm.

“The IDF is currently striking launch posts in southern Lebanon.”

Later, the IDF reported that a total of 160 rockets were launched from Lebanon, and 15 UAVs crossed into Israeli territory, most of which were intercepted.

A later IDF report said: “Following the sirens that sounded earlier today in northern Israel, approximately 200 projectiles and over 20 suspicious aerial targets were identified crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory, a number of which were intercepted by the IDF Aerial Defense Array and IAF fighter jets.”

“The IAF struck Hezbollah military structures in the areas of Ramyeh and Houla in southern Lebanon.”

IAF strikes terrorists operating in UNRWA schools

(A7) The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit announced Thursday afternoon that earlier today, the IAF struck terrorists who operated from UNRWA schools in the area of Gaza City- the “Alqahirah” School in Al-Furqan, and the “Musa” School in Daraj Tuffah.

The IDF stated that the schools were used as hideouts for terrorists and as an active operational infrastructure of the Hamas terrorist organization, from which its operatives planned, directed, and carried out numerous terror attacks against IDF troops operating in the Gaza Strip.

Prior to the strike, a number of steps were taken to mitigate harm to uninvolved civilians, including conducting aerial surveillance, using precise munition, and additional intelligence measures.

“The Hamas terrorist organization systematically violated international law, exploiting civilian structures and populations as human shields for its terror attacks against the State of Israel,” the IDF stated
