Huma Abedin, the 40-year old wife of former Congressman Anthony Weiner and the mother of his child, had separated from Weiner in this past August, a day after he sent another sext to a woman while he was sitting next to his infant son.
The New York Post reported recently that Abedin is giving Weiner another chance even though multiple stints in sex addiction rehab have done close to nothing to stymie the Congressman’s obsession with sending scantily clad or nude photos of himself to other women, some of them barely past puberty.
Weiner has an extensive sexting repertoire that dates back to May 2011. The scandal, which is infamously dubbed “Weinergate”, began that spring, when Weiner tweeted a photo of his penis, alleging that the photo was meant to be sent out privately to a college student as if doing so would win the Congressman points for decency for his indecent exposure. When pressed to explain the existence of the tweet, Weiner denied ever sending it. When more woman began coming forward with nude photos of the Weiner (no pun intended), he resigned from Congress amidst the scandal.
In 2013, ex-Congressman Weiner got a bit more discrete and decided to affix photos of his penis to the alias name “Carlos Danger”. Although he was running for Mayor at the time, or perhaps because he was running, the pictures were leaked but Weiner refused to let this hinder his campaign for Mayor, staying in the race. As it turned out, Weiner did not do himself much of a favor and came in fifth in the running.
The straw that apparently failed to break the camel’s back came during the presidential election when Weiner’s wife was running Hilary Clinton’s election bid. More Weiner sexts emerged during the campaign. One of the sexts had been sent to an underage girl. Weiner has since completed outpatient sex addiction rehabilitation. He has continued to seek therapy in New York City. The 2016 incident solidified his wife’s decision to call it quits, or so we thought. Abedin made the following statement to the media. “After a long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband. Anthony and I remain devoted to doing what is best for our son, who is the light of our life. During this difficult time, I ask for respect for our privacy.” In reconsidering her Divorce from Weiner, we can only hope that Weiner can keep illicit images of his body out of the public view.
