Kim Guadagno and prominent Jewish leaders from across New Jersey today slammed Phil Murphy and Sheila Oliver for their ticket’s anti-Israel record.

“Phil Murphy is resorting to desperate, negative and false attacks to divert attention from his plan for a billion dollar tax increase and from his deafening silence on how he will fix New Jersey's already highest in the nation property taxes,” said Kim Guadagno. “When it comes to supporting Israel and the Jewish-American community in New Jersey, it’s clear that Phil Murphy and Sheila Oliver come up short. Sheila Oliver was one of only three legislators to vote against the landmark anti-BDS law last year which banned pension investments with companies that boycotted Israel. Phil Murphy is either anti-Israel or should demand his running mate disavow her vote.”

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement is an anti-Israel campaign seeking to undermine the country’s legitimacy as a Jewish state. New Jersey’s anti-BDS legislation was signed into law last summer.

“I was really troubled that Phil Murphy’s running mate supports the virulently anti-Israel BDS movement and was one of only three Assembly votes against the landmark Anti-BDS legislation that overwhelmingly passed the NJ Assembly and Senate last year," said Mark Levenson, a longtime Jewish community activist and a leader in the successful effort to pass New Jersey’s Anti-BDS legislation.

“On this critical issue, you are either with us on the right side of the issue or you are against us. There is no middle ground. Jewish leaders are standing with Kim Guadagno and Carlos Rendo because they will always stand with Israel, oppose hypocritical double standard discrimination against the Jewish State and speak out against antisemitism.”

"New Jersey cannot support the Murphy-Oliver anti-Israel ticket," said Senator Bob Singer, a co-sponsor of New Jersey’s anti-BDS legislation. "Israel is an ally and deserves our steadfast support from all levels of government. We need leaders with the moral clarity to stand against violence and the BDS movement, and that's why I support Kim Guadagno and Carlos Rendo.”

“Phil Murphy and Sheila Oliver have again shown they don’t have our backs,” said Woodcliff Lake Mayor Carlos Rendo, Kim Guadagno’s running mate. “First, we find out that Sheila Oliver took an unsanctioned trip to Cuba while they were harboring the fugitive murderer of a New Jersey State Trooper. Now we find out she was one of the few legislators to vote against Israel. As an immigrant, I find it insulting that Phil Murphy would choose Sheila Oliver as a running mate.”

“Instead of boycotting, divesting or sanctioning Israel, Kim Guadagno and Carlos Rendo understand we should be strengthening cultural and economic ties,” said Duvi Honig, CEO & Founder of the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce. “From funding school choice programs to providing the necessary security to ensure the Jewish community can worship safely, Kim will help strengthen our community and improve the quality of life for all New Jerseyans.”

As Secretary of State, Kim Guadagno works closely with the New Jersey Israel Commission to promote stronger economic and cultural ties between the two states. As governor, Kim Guadagno will:

1. Support School Choice – As governor, Kim Guadagno believes that parents should be able to provide their kids with a quality and affordable education that best meets their academic and religious needs. As governor, she will continue to advocate for school choice, including vouchers.

2. Fully Fund Security – As governor, Kim Guadagno will fully fund security requests by religious institutions to ensure that New Jerseyans can worship without fear for their safety.

3. Enforce Anti-BDS Legislation Murphy-Oliver Opposed – New Jersey must actively oppose the BDS movement and stand up for Israel. The Guadagno-Rendo ticket understands New Jersey cannot engage in boycotts of Israel
